Glossary

Quick definitions of the terms you will meet across CreaRack, in alphabetical order.

Auto-Plan — AI feature in the Map Editor. Upload a floor plan image and it analyzes the drawing and proposes rack placement on the map automatically.

Auto-Provision Wizard — Guided workflow that scans your network, identifies devices via SNMP and registers them in CreaRack — linking them to racks and monitoring — with minimal manual typing.

Blueprint — A floor plan or map of a physical space (server room, building, campus). Built in the Map Editor; racks are placed on it to document their physical location.

Client portal — Public, token-protected Signage page where a customer uploads and reviews content for their own screens without needing a CreaRack account.

CNS (CreaRack Network Sentinel) — Network intelligence module. It analyzes monitoring data with AI to detect anomalies, explain incidents and produce recommendations.

Credential store — Encrypted, organization-wide vault for SNMP, SSH and HTTP credentials. Saved once, reused across discovery, Auto-Provision and Signage without retyping secrets.

Deep discovery — Extended discovery pass that queries vendor-specific SNMP data (hardware details, radios, batteries, sensors) beyond the basic identification scan.

Device — Any piece of equipment documented inside a rack: server, switch, patch panel, UPS, PDU. Carries its own name, position, ports, notes and optional network management settings.

Device profile — The technical record that discovery builds for a network device: hostname, vendor, model, interfaces and SNMP data. Profiles feed the Auto-Provision Wizard and monitoring.

Discovery — Scanning IP ranges to find live devices on the network. The starting point for Auto-Provision, device profiles and monitoring targets.

Fleet — The set of Local Agents installed across your sites, managed from the Agent Fleet Manager. Agents coordinate as Primary/Secondary with automatic failover.

Floor plan — See Blueprint.

ITSM — IT Service Management. CreaRack’s ITSM features turn monitoring alerts into trackable incidents with workflows and escalation.

Local Agent — Small Windows application installed inside your network. It bridges the cloud platform to your LAN: SSH terminal sessions, discovery scans and Sentinel monitoring run through it.

Media player — The physical playback device behind a signage screen (for example a SpinetiX player). CreaRack deploys content to it and monitors its status.

MFA (multi-factor authentication) — A second proof of identity at login: a TOTP authenticator code or a passkey on top of the password.

Monitoring target — Anything Observatory watches: a device or service checked via SNMP, ping or HTTP, with metrics and alert thresholds attached.

Observatory — The monitoring module. Live dashboards, historical charts, alerting and the health view of everything CreaRack watches.

Organization — Your tenant in CreaRack. All data — racks, users, credentials, content — belongs to one organization and is invisible to every other one.

Passkey — Passwordless or second-factor credential based on public-key cryptography: a hardware key (YubiKey) or device biometrics (Windows Hello, Touch ID).

Playlist — Ordered list of media assets (images, videos, web content) that Signage plays on one or more screens, optionally on a schedule.

Rack — The digital twin of a physical server cabinet. Measured in U, holds devices, and is the central object of CreaRack.

Rack group — Color-coded label that organizes racks into rooms, sites, rows or customers.

Sentinel — The Local Agent’s 24/7 monitoring mode. The agent polls targets from inside your network, buffers results locally and syncs them to the cloud — monitoring survives internet outages.

SNMP — Simple Network Management Protocol, the standard way to read metrics and inventory from network gear. CreaRack supports v2c and v3.

SNMP community — The shared secret string used to authenticate SNMP v1/v2c requests. Stored encrypted in the credential store.

SSH — Secure Shell, the protocol behind the built-in Terminal and configuration backups of network devices.

Stencil — Reusable device template (image, default U height, manufacturer, category). Dragging one onto a rack creates a device.

Stencil library — The panel in the Rack Editor that holds all stencils, organized in category folders: the global Default Pack plus your custom ones.

Temporary access — Time-limited permission elevation (1–72 hours) on one module or all of them, with a recorded reason. Expires automatically.

Terminal — The in-browser SSH terminal module. Connect to network devices through the Local Agent without external client software.

U (rack unit) — Standard unit of rack height: 1U = 1.75 inches (44.45 mm). A typical datacenter rack is 42U tall.

Visio import — Bringing existing Visio shape libraries (.vssx, .vdx, .vss) into CreaRack as stencils.
