The Device page — every device in one place

What it is

The Device page is the home of your devices. Every device you have — discovered with Auto-Provision or placed in a rack — appears here as a single card, no matter which page manages it (Terminal, Observatory, Wireless, UPS, Digital Signage). It is the one place to find a device, edit its card, decide which page manages it, discover new ones, and remove the ones you no longer need.

The idea is one card per device: assigning it to a management page adds a label, it does not create a copy.

Where to find it

Open Devices from the main menu (Network Management). You land on the master list.

What you can do

Polling cadence

Every monitored device has its own Polling cadence — how often it is checked and how often its charts refresh. You set it in the card editor: Edit → Monitoring → Polling cadence, with five choices: 15 s, 20 s, 30 s, 1 min (the default) and 5 min. The editor reminds you of the two guardrails below right under the selector.

The change applies as soon as you click Save: the device starts being polled at the new pace and any open charts of that device re-pace themselves on the spot — no need to reload the page. Two guardrails run behind the scenes: the availability ping never slows beyond 30 s (so outages are detected quickly even at a 5 min cadence), and the heavier vendor checks (CPU, memory, temperature) never run more often than once a minute, even at the fastest cadence.

Faster cadences increase SNMP load on the device, so reserve 15 s for the gear that really needs it. The cadence drives both monitoring modes — see [[crearack—monitoring—que-es-observatory]].

Deleting a device

Every card with an IP has a Delete button. It removes the device from everywhere in one click: its card, its monitoring (the Local Agent is told at once and any incident groups it left empty are tidied up), so it disappears from the Terminal, the Observatory and its management page — and, if it was placed in a rack, it is removed from that rack too.

You are asked to confirm, and the confirmation names the device and its IP. The device is not destroyed: it goes to the Trash on the Home page, from where you can restore it — card, groups, credentials, monitoring and rack placement included (metric history is not restored). See [[crearack—racks—trash-and-restore]].

The same delete is available from the lists of the Observatory, Wireless, UPS and Digital Signage pages (the × next to each device) and from the Rack Editor (delete the device and save the rack). The Terminal page does not delete devices.
