Media Library & Content Types
Media Library & Content Types
What it is
The Content tab on the Signage page is your media library — the central CMS storage for everything your screens play. You upload content once, organize it with tags, and publish it to SpinetiX players directly or through [[crearack—signage—playlists]]. External clients can also upload their own content through the Client Portal ([[crearack—signage—client-portal]]) without a CreaRack login.
Supported content types:
| Type | Formats | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Images | JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG | Shown fullscreen; display duration set per playlist item |
| Videos | MP4, WebM, MOV | Transcoded automatically for player compatibility |
| HTML5 | ZIP package | Interactive web content |
| Web URL | HTTP/HTTPS | Live dashboards, info pages |
| Live Stream | e.g. RTSP | IP cameras, live feeds |
How to upload media
- Go to Signage > Content.
- Click Upload and pick files, or drag and drop them onto the drop zone.
- Watch the progress bar — each file uploads in sequence.
- The CMS processes each file in the background: it generates a thumbnail, extracts metadata (resolution, duration), and transcodes videos when needed. A status badge shows on the card until the asset is ready.
You can also upload directly from inside the Playlist Builder — see [[crearack—signage—playlists]].
How to add a URL or live stream
- Click Add URL.
- Fill in Name and URL (
https://...for web pages,rtsp://...for streams). - Set Type to Web URL or Live Stream, optionally add tags, and confirm.
The player loads the URL itself, so it must be reachable from the player’s network — not just from your PC.
How to browse and filter
- Switch between Grid and List views with the toggle buttons.
- Filter by type (All Types, Images, Videos, HTML5, URLs) or by tag (All Tags).
- The header shows totals: asset count and storage used.
How to manage an asset
- Click a card to open its detail modal: type, status, size, resolution, duration, MIME type, and transcoded variants.
- Edit the comma-separated tags and click Save Tags.
- Click Reprocess if thumbnail or transcoding failed.
- Click Delete to remove it. For bulk cleanup, tick the checkbox on several cards and click Delete Selected.
How to publish content to players
- Select one or more assets (or none to publish everything) and click Publish — or click Publish on a single card.
- Pick the target players and the playback options (duration per slide, transition, loop).
- CreaRack packages the content and gives each player a publish URL. The Local Agent then configures the SpinetiX player to pull it on schedule.
Your browser never handles player passwords: it only passes a credential_id, and the Local Agent resolves the actual credentials server-side. If no credential is stored in Config > Credentials, you get a one-time manual prompt instead. Details: [[crearack—signage—deploy-and-credentials]].
The toolbar also gives you live playback control: Pause / Resume, Clear Playback (Corporate Image, Black Screen, Test Pattern, Restart Content, Clear All Content), and History, where every operation is logged with a Restore button to roll a player back.
Troubleshooting
- Asset stuck in processing or marked error — open it and click Reprocess. Large videos can take a few minutes to transcode.
- Publish fails on every device — check that the Local Agent is running and the players are reachable. See [[crearack—signage—troubleshooting]].
- Web URL shows blank on screen — the player can’t reach the URL. Test it from the player’s network segment.
