Cluster Mode: one command, many devices

What it is

Cluster Mode broadcasts what you type to every connected SSH session at once. Instead of repeating the same command on ten switches tab by tab, you type it once and all sessions receive it in parallel. You can also broadcast a saved script — a sequence of commands from your script library — to all of them.

Typical uses: setting the same NTP server on every switch, checking show version across a site, or pushing a VLAN change to a whole closet.

How to use it

  1. Open SSH sessions to the devices you want to target. The quickest way: tick their checkboxes in the sidebar and click Open All.
  2. Click Cluster Mode in the Terminal Tools section of the sidebar. A panel appears at the bottom of the workspace and a warning confirms it: commands will be broadcast to ALL sessions.
  3. Type a command in the input and press Enter or click Send. The command goes to every connected session, and a toast confirms how many received it.
  4. Watch the output in each tab. A multi-pane layout (2x2, 3x1…) lets you see several sessions side by side while you broadcast.
  5. Click Close on the panel (or Cluster Mode again) to return to normal single-session typing.

Cluster Mode only reaches sessions that are open and connected. Tabs that are disconnected, and devices with no open session, are skipped.

How to broadcast a script

For multi-command changes, use a saved script instead of typing line by line:

  1. Create or review scripts with Script Manager in the sidebar (each script is a list of commands, one per line).
  2. In the Cluster Mode panel, pick the script from the — Broadcast Script — dropdown.
  3. Click Run Script. Every command in the script is sent, in order, to every connected session, and a toast confirms the count.

Scripts are shared with the Network module’s script library, so anything you maintain there is available here.
