UPS groups, reports, deep discovery and troubleshooting
Groups
- In the sidebar, click Manage Groups. The “Manage UPS Groups” dialog opens.
- Type a name in “New group name…”, pick a color, click Create.
- Click Assign next to a group, tick the UPS devices in “Assign UPS to Group” and click Save.
- Filter the sidebar with the group selector (“All Groups”), or click a group name to open a tab scoped to it. Delete removes the group, never the devices.
The group tab header has its own toolbar: Report (the fleet report scoped to this group, with the group name in the title), Deep Discover (deep SNMP discovery of every UPS in the group, two at a time, with the progress shown on the button), Refresh (reload summary, members and charts now), New Tab (open the group in its own browser tab), Manage Members (the “Manage UPS Groups” dialog) and Export CSV (download the member table).
Reports and CSV
- Fleet Report — “Overview” tab header. A printable page with fleet statistics and per-UPS status; print or save as PDF from your browser.
- Per-UPS Report — detail view → Report. It opens wide, with one chart per row, and shows eight charts: “Battery Charge”, “Output Load”, “Input Voltage”, “Output Voltage”, “Runtime Remaining”, “Temperature”, “Input Frequency” and “Output Current”. A chart reads “No data in this range” when that UPS model does not report the value. Under every chart a line lists its Highest and Lowest three values with day and time. Print gives a portrait PDF with each chart at full page width.
- Export CSV — “Overview” header; downloads the inventory with key power metrics.
Deep discovery
Click Deep Data in the sidebar (whole fleet) or Deep Discover in a detail view (single UPS). The Local Agent walks the vendor-specific SNMP tables and fills battery age, temperature and alarm details. A “Deep Discovery” overlay shows progress; click Accept when it finishes. Credentials are resolved server-side by device id — the browser never sees them.
Troubleshooting
- “Local Agent not available” — start
CreaRackAgent.exeon its PC and check it is online in the Observatory’s Fleet Manager. See [[crearack—terminal—local-agent]]. - A UPS shows “Offline” but it is powering equipment — UPS Monitor talks to the management card, not the power path. The card may be hung (power-cycle the card, not the UPS) or its SNMP credentials may have changed (detail view → Config).
- Battery data empty after adding — run a Deep Discover once; some vendors only expose battery detail in their private tables.
- “Critical” counter does not match what you see — the counter follows the battery-charge threshold; a device can be online and still critical because its charge is low.
- Deep discovery times out (orange bar) — wrong credentials, SNMP restricted to certain source IPs on the card, or a busy card. Fix and re-run Deep Data.
