Opening and managing SSH sessions

What it is

An SSH session is a live console between your browser and a network device, bridged by the Local Agent. CreaRack supports multiple simultaneous sessions in tabs and panes, and the sessions persist while you navigate around the app.

How to open a session

Managed devices: one click

  1. Open the Terminal page.
  2. Click a managed device in the sidebar (any device with Network Management configured).
  3. The session opens. No password prompt: the browser sends only the device ID, and the Local Agent retrieves the stored credentials directly from the server. Credentials never appear in your browser.

Detected devices: quick-connect

Devices found by Auto-Provision discovery (but not yet adopted) also appear in the sidebar. Click one and the Manual SSH Session dialog opens with the IP Address pre-filled — and the Username too, if discovery stored one. Type the password yourself and press Connect. For security, stored passwords are never sent to the browser.

Manual connection

For any host not registered in CreaRack:

  1. Press Manual Session in the sidebar.
  2. Enter IP Address / Host, Port (default 22), Username and Password.
  3. Press Connect.

Manual sessions are temporary: they are not saved across reloads.

From the Rack Editor

Select a device with Network Management in a rack and press its terminal button. The Terminal page opens with the session already connecting. See [[crearack—racks—ssh-desde-rack]].

How to manage open sessions

Session recording

Press REC in the session toolbar to start recording the console output. Press it again to stop: the log file downloads automatically (session-<id>.log). Useful for change evidence and audits.

How to customize the console

The right side of the toolbar holds per-user settings, saved automatically in your browser:
