QR labels for racks and devices

What it is

CreaRack prints QR labels you can stick on physical racks and devices. There are two kinds:

  • Device labels — one label per device. The QR code links straight to the rack’s editor page at that device’s U position. Scan it with a phone and you land on the device’s documentation.
  • Rack labels — one label per rack. The QR code encodes the rack’s key data (name, location, height, status) as plain text, readable by any QR scanner even without network access.

Both flows end in the same preview modal with a Print Label button that opens your system print dialog directly. No new tabs, no PDF juggling.

How to print a device label

  1. Open the rack in the Rack Editor.
  2. Click the device on the canvas to select it.
  3. In the properties panel on the right, click QR.
  4. The Device QR Label preview opens. The label shows the device name, Model, Rack, Loc and the U position, next to the QR code.
  5. Click Print Label. Your operating system’s print dialog opens with the label laid out for A4.

How to print rack labels

  1. Go to the rack dashboard.
  2. Tick the checkbox on each rack you want to label. Leave all unchecked to generate labels for every rack.
  3. Click Gen QR in the toolbar.
  4. The Rack QR Labels preview opens with one label per rack: rack name, Location, Height and Status.
  5. Click Print Label to print all labels in the preview in one job.

Printing tips

  • Print on adhesive label paper, or on plain A4 and cut the cards out — each label has its own border and never splits across pages.
  • Keep the printed QR at least 2x2 cm so phone cameras scan it reliably.
  • In dusty or humid rooms, laminate the labels or use a transparent cover.
  • To scan a device label, the phone needs network access to your CreaRack URL. Rack labels work offline: the data is inside the QR itself.

Troubleshooting

  • “Error loading rack data” in the preview — the rack info could not be fetched. Check that you are still signed in and reload the page.
  • The label shows “[QR]” instead of a code — the QR rendering library did not load. Reload the page and try again.
  • Print preview comes out empty — make sure the labels finished loading in the modal before clicking Print Label.
  • [[crearack—racks—dispositivos]] — manage the devices you are labeling
  • [[crearack—racks—crear-rack]] — create and manage racks
  • [[crearack—racks—exportar-csv]] — document the same inventory as a spreadsheet
