What it is
CreaRack exports your rack inventory as plain CSV — one row per device, ready for Excel, Google Sheets, a CMDB import or an audit checklist. Two scopes are available:
- Full inventory — every rack and device in your organization. Triggered from the Config menu. Admin role required.
- Single rack — one rack and its devices. Available as a direct API URL.
How to export the full inventory
- Sign in with an admin account.
- Click Config in the top bar.
- Under File Operations, click Export to CSV.
- The browser downloads
CreaRack-Pro_Export.csv.
The file contains these columns:
| Column | Content |
|---|---|
| Rack ID / Rack Name | Rack identifier and name |
| Location | Rack location, or N/A |
| Height (U) | Rack height in rack units |
| Status | Rack status |
| Device ID / Device Name | Device identifier and name |
| U Position / U Height | Position from the bottom and units occupied |
| Model | Device model from its stencil |
| Notes | Device notes |
Racks with no devices still appear, as a single row with the device columns empty. That makes the export a complete rack census, not just a device list.
How to export a single rack
There is no button for this in the UI — use the API URL directly in the browser, or from a script:
GET /api/racks/{rack_id}/export/csv
The download is named rack_export_{rack_id}.csv. Columns: Rack Name, Location, Height (U), Category (holds the rack status), Notes, Device Name, Position, Device Height, Device Notes. Devices are listed top of rack first.
You can find the rack_id in the rack’s editor URL.
Common uses
- Physical audit — walk the room with the CSV and reconcile what’s racked vs. what’s documented.
- Reports — pivot the CSV in a spreadsheet for occupancy or per-vendor breakdowns.
- Change tracking — export periodically and diff the files to see what moved.
Troubleshooting
- “Unauthorized” / 403 — the full inventory export is admin-only. Ask an admin to run it or to grant you the role.
- “Rack not found” on a single-rack export — the
rack_iddoes not exist in your organization. Check the ID in the editor URL.
