What is the Map Editor

What it is

The Map Editor is the CreaRack Pro module for building floor plans (maps) of your facilities. You place your racks on a plan of your server room, datacenter, or building, so everyone on the team knows where each rack physically sits and how racks connect to each other.

With it you can:

  • Document physical locations — drop each rack at its real position on the plan.
  • Use a real floor plan as background — upload an image of your facility and work on top of it.
  • Draw the space — walls, zones, labels, arrows, and a Shapes panel with almost 200 professional stencils (network gear, 19” racks, UPS units, floorplan furniture) you can search, drag onto the plan, and rename.
  • Connect racks with cables — document physical links with auto-routed cable lines.
  • Generate plans with AI — the Auto-Plan button analyzes a floor plan image and builds the map for you.
  • Print — the Print Map button exports a selected area to A3.

Map editing requires an admin account. Other users can view maps.

Map Editor vs. Rack Editor

Both modules share the same racks. Rename a rack in one and the change shows in the other.

Right-click any rack on the map and choose Open Rack to jump straight to its Rack Editor.

What is on the screen

  • Left sidebar — the Open Map selector, map actions (New, Delete, Save, Save As, Clone Map, Config AI, Print Map, Auto-Plan), the Background section, Cable Tools, and the Racks in Map list.
  • Canvas — the plan itself. Zoom with the mouse wheel, pan by dragging the empty background.
  • Drawing tools bar — text buttons Select (V), Rectangle (R), Circle (C), Line (L), Dotted (D), Arrow (A), Text (T), Rack (K), Library (Shift+L), Cable (N), plus fill/stroke color, stroke width, Duplicate (Ctrl+D), and Delete (Del).
  • History controls — text buttons Undo (Ctrl+Z), Redo (Ctrl+Y), Zoom out, Zoom in and Fit (fit to view).

Changes save automatically as you work — moving a rack or drawing an element triggers an auto-save.

How to get started

  1. Open Blueprints from the main menu.
  2. Click Create New Map and give it a name. Or click Upload Floor Plan to let Auto-Plan AI build the map from an image.
  3. In the Background section, click Import to upload your floor plan image.
  4. Find your racks in the Racks in Map search box and drag them onto the canvas.
  5. Use the Cable Tool (N) to connect racks.
