CreaRack-SL

Add UPS devices to UPS Monitor

What it is

UPS devices join CreaRack through the Auto-Provision Wizard, like every other network device. CreaRack talks to the UPS’s network management card over SNMP and identifies vendor and model automatically.

Before you start

  • The UPS needs a network management card with an IP address and SNMP enabled (check the card’s web interface; most APC/Eaton/CyberPower cards ship with SNMP v1/v2c available).
  • The Local Agent (CreaRackAgent.exe) must be running on a PC inside your network — it performs the scan, since the cloud cannot reach your private IPs.
  • Have the SNMP community or v3 credentials at hand.

How to add a UPS

  1. Open the Terminal page → sidebar Network Tools → Auto-Provision.
  2. Step 1 · Discovery — scan the UPS management IP (Single Device) or its subnet (Subnet Scan) with the SNMP credentials.
  3. Step 2 · Results & Assign — the UPS appears in the results; if the type was not auto-detected as ups, change it in the row.
  4. In the Destination column choose UPS, then click Apply. The saved SNMP credentials are inherited securely on the server — the browser never handles them.
  5. Optionally also choose Rack to place the UPS in its physical cabinet.

The UPS appears in the UPS Monitor sidebar with its battery badge within moments.

After adding

  • Click the UPS in the sidebar: “Battery Status”, “Input” and “Output” populate from regular polling.
  • Run Deep Discover from the detail view to fill vendor-specific tables (battery age, temperature, alarm details).
  • Consider setting alerts on battery charge and output load so you are notified before a power event becomes an outage — see [[crearack—monitoring—alertas]].

Troubleshooting

  • The UPS is not detected in the scan — verify SNMP is enabled on the management card and the community is correct; some cards also restrict SNMP to specific source IPs (allow the Agent’s PC).
  • Detected but shows offline — wrong credentials or the card only supports SNMP v1: open Config in the detail view and adjust.
  • Battery shows ”—” — regular polling has not completed yet, or the model needs a deep discovery pass first.
